0% platform commission, always
Donation Pool applies no platform commission on the donation: the donor pays exactly the amount they choose to give to the cause, with no added surcharge. That amount is transferred through a direct charge to the verified beneficiary's Standard Stripe account, once the campaign meets the payout requirements. There are no fixed fees, subscriptions, or upfront payments from the campaign creator.
The 0% commission is a fixed platform policy, not a temporary promotion: it always applies, regardless of the amount donated or the type of cause. Which causes get published depends only on identity verification and content standards, never on profitability.
Donation Pool's only revenue is a tip: each campaign's creator can enable it if they want, to help sustain the platform. It's never mandatory — entirely voluntary — and they can turn it off completely whenever they want. When it exists, it's deducted from what's raised — never paid by the donor — and it funds the platform's operating costs: manual campaign review, support for creators and donors, infrastructure, security, maintenance and distribution of causes. Creating a campaign remains free: the economic barrier to fundraising is zero.
The amount destined to the beneficiary is transferred through Stripe Connect, the verified payment system that guarantees full traceability of the financial flow. Every transfer is recorded and can be checked in the platform's transparency reports. This mechanism removes the opacity common in other crowdfunding solutions and gives the donor a clear view of where their contribution ultimately goes.
Stripe's processing cost is the beneficiary's
Payment processing is handled by Stripe directly on the beneficiary's account, through a direct charge to their own Standard Stripe account, at Stripe's standard rate. Donation Pool does not calculate, add, or pass on that cost to the donor: it's the beneficiary's own account that absorbs it automatically, just as it would with any other charge they processed directly through Stripe.
Stripe is the payment provider that handles the entirety of Donation Pool's financial flow. The platform never stores sensitive card data or donors' banking information: the whole operation is delegated to Stripe's infrastructure, which meets the most demanding security certifications in the international financial sector.
This cost also covers dispute handling, technical refunds, and automatic transaction reconciliation. Stripe provides the regulatory compliance layer that lets Donation Pool operate with donors and beneficiaries across multiple jurisdictions without needing to manage additional financial licenses directly.
It's a cost inherent to electronic payment processing that would exist regardless of the platform used, and which the beneficiary's account now absorbs directly. Donation Pool doesn't calculate it or show it to the donor as a fixed figure, because it varies by the card's issuing bank, the beneficiary's country, and the payment method used — and because it's no longer a cost the platform passes on or deducts from what's raised.
Team and maintenance
Donation Pool's day-to-day operation is funded by the voluntary tip the creator decides to enable per campaign, never by a surcharge on the donor. This covers manual campaign review before publication, technical and operational support for creators, donors and beneficiaries, technical infrastructure maintenance, systems security, and ongoing product development.
Campaign review is a manual process that involves verifying the information provided by the creator, checking the beneficiary's identity through Stripe Connect, and ensuring the cause description is consistent with the platform's standards. This control process isn't automatic: every campaign goes through a human evaluation before it's activated.
Technical maintenance includes server monitoring, database management, backups, security certificate updates, and rolling out platform improvements. Donation Pool's infrastructure is designed to scale in proportion to the growth in the number of campaigns and donations processed.
Security is a cross-cutting component that covers personal data protection, prevention of unauthorized access, transaction auditing, and incident response. The team dedicates ongoing resources to keeping security protocols up to date against emerging digital threats.
Product improvement includes developing new features, optimizing the user experience, integrating analytics tools, and adapting the platform to changing regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions where Donation Pool operates.
Advertising and distribution
Campaign visibility doesn't cut into what reaches the cause either: it's funded by the same voluntary tip, never by a charge to the donor. Donation Pool dedicates its own resources to distributing active causes with one specific goal: that no cause has to depend solely on its creator already having an audience or an extensive network of contacts.
Distribution lets campaigns reach potential donors beyond the creator's immediate circle. This translates into a higher likelihood of reaching the funding goal, especially for causes that, while legitimate and necessary, lack organic visibility on social media or in traditional outlets.
Distribution channels include targeted digital advertising, social media presence, collaborations with media outlets and affiliated platforms, and search engine positioning strategies. Budget allocation is prioritized based on the cause's urgency, the campaign's progress, and its potential impact.
This approach tackles one of the structural limitations of traditional crowdfunding: the concentration of donations in campaigns created by people with large pre-existing audiences, regardless of the social relevance of the cause. Donation Pool invests in leveling that inequality so the merit of the cause, not the popularity of the creator, determines the campaign's outcome.
Transparency in the use of these resources is reflected in the distribution reports published in the platform's transparency section. Every campaign can check the reach generated and the visibility metrics tied to its activity.
No upfront costs
Creating a campaign on Donation Pool requires no upfront payment. There are no sign-up fees, monthly subscriptions, or security deposits, and no tip is generated until a donation actually arrives: if a campaign receives no donations, no cost is generated for either party.
This approach removes the economic barrier for any person or organization who wants to start a fundraising campaign. The platform takes on the full operational risk. This structure aligns Donation Pool's interests with those of campaign creators and beneficiaries: the tip is only generated when a donation actually arrives, the creator decides on it voluntarily, and the donor never pays it.
The absence of upfront costs also means there are no penalties for canceling a campaign and no charges for maintaining inactive accounts. A creator can publish a campaign, take it down if circumstances change, and republish it later at no additional cost.
What the donor sees
Before confirming any donation, the payment modal clearly shows how much of the donation reaches the beneficiary and how much is the campaign's tip, if the creator has enabled one — there is never a platform-commission line. The tip, when it exists, is a voluntary decision by the creator that's deducted from what's raised and doesn't show up as an extra charge to the donor.
The total is calculated in real time based on the amount entered, and the modal itself breaks down how much of that total reaches the beneficiary and how much is the campaign's tip, when there is one. This figure lets the donor make an informed decision about their contribution, knowing exactly what it translates into.
Beyond the financial breakdown, the modal shows beneficiary verification information, the campaign's current progress, and the terms that apply to the donation. All of this information is presented before the donor is redirected to Stripe's payment form, ensuring the decision to donate is made with full transparency.
Once the donation is processed, the donor receives a receipt that includes the same breakdown shown in the modal. This receipt remains available for later reference and serves as the formal record of the transaction. The platform keeps an accessible history of all donations made by the user.
